Kindness Counts: Participate in A Kind Act For Our Environment at Prescott Farm!

IMG_0897

April is Earth Month so let’s embrace it by encouraging our children to show some love to our Planet!  By teaching children to care for our Earth we can help put an end to environmental apathy and make our world a healthier and greener place.  This is why I am very happy to share Prescott Farm’s Spring Volunteer Day as my Kindness Counts suggestion for Earth Month!  On April 20th, your family can spend some quality time outdoors, enjoying the beauty of Prescott Farm and soaking in some fresh air, all while making an impact!  Volunteers will be helping with gardens, trail work and other miscellaneous jobs around the farm property.

This is a great hands-on opportunity to teach kids the importance of caring for our environment while having some fun along the way.   From my experience, most children cannot get enough of the outdoors and take great pride in helping with Spring clean-up and gardening.  They love knowing that their actions are going to help a plant grow or provide a nicer habitat for a wild animal!

Now, of course I promote being kind for kindness’ sake alone…That said, it never hurts to get a thank you, especially when it’s in the form of food!  The very kind (and wise) people of  Prescott Farm realize this and are offering a FREE homemade lunch to all their volunteers.  After this snowy winter that we’ve had, what better way to spend an April day than soaking in nature’s beauty and enjoying some FREE food!

If you haven’t had the pleasure of visiting Prescott Farm yet, their Spring Volunteer Day is a perfect opportunity.  If you’d like to participate in the Farm’s Volunteer Day please RSVP to Anna at [email protected]!

Want to know more about the farm?  Prescott Farm Environmental and Educational Community is a wonderful place, offering environmental education throughout the year.  The Farm hosts WildQuest Camps during school vacation and summer break, public programs, field trips, and long-term partnerships with local elementary schools. Prescott Farm is also designated as an official New Hampshire Wildlife Viewing Area boasting more than three miles of woodland, pond and field trails for your hiking enjoyment.  Visitors can also explore their three-story historic barn, beautiful heritage flower and vegetable gardens, and an old-fashioned maple sugar operation (seasonal)!
