The Palace Theatre’s Summer Series for Children 2015

The Palace Professional Theatre for Children will begin its summer series in early July.  This summer series is one of the things I look forward to for the summer.  My kids (and I) love going to the all of their different plays.  In case you haven’t been, The Palace Theatre is beautiful and is situated on the very charming Hanover Street, which is lined with lovely restaurants and eateries.  My kids and I get dressed up when we go to the Palace Theatre and we usually try to catch a bite to eat on Hanover Street before the show – making for a wonderful little family outing!  If you do decide to eat in the area prior to the show, please be sure to inquire at the box office about half off gift certificates to participating restaurants.   In the past, the Palace has offered these with the purchase of theatre tickets.   I have used the half off gift certificates in the past and it makes eating out with the children much more affordable.

My experience has been that all of their productions are well done and completely kid-friendly.  The Theatre typically performs the “Disney” version of each fairytale complete with the Disney songs (that the kids know and adore).  In the past few years every play has concluded with the entire cast singing and dancing to a big finale.

This summer the Palace will present Magician BJ Hickman, Snow White, Peter Pan, Aladdin, Wizard of Oz, Shrek, Little Mermaid and Alice in Wonderland.  The Palace runs a different show each week for eight weeks over the course of the summer.  Each play runs Tuesday-Thursday and offers morning and evening show times.

After each performance actors and actresses (in costume) are available for a meet and greet and some pictures!  My children have loved having their picture taken with some of their favorite characters like the Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, Rapunzel and more.

Ticket prices are very reasonable and, if your children are like mine, and want to go to every single play then you can purchase a summer subscription at a reduced cost ($8 per ticket).  Also, purchasing a summer subscription early gets you some of the best seats in the house!
