Summer Exhibits at Zoo New England

Events: 

Giraffe Encounters at Franklin Park Zoo: Don’t miss an opportunity to meet the giraffes up-close!  Space is limited to 15 individuals.  Guests may purchase tickets at the Giraffe Encounter gate, located past the Giraffe Savannah and across from Outback Trail.  Participants must arrive 15 minutes prior to the encounter time.  Each experience will last approximately 30 minutes.  Please note: There is no advance registration and the encounters may be cancelled at any time due to weather or the animals’ needs.  Giraffe Encounters are at 11:00am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm.  Daily giraffe encounters at the Giraffe Terrace located on the Giraffe Savannah will continue only through Labor Day.  After Labor Day, the Giraffe Terrace will be open weekends only through the end of September, weather permitting.  The cost for Giraffe Encounters is $5.00 per person.

 

Butterfly Landing at Franklin Park Zoo: Watch in amazement as butterflies flutter around you in Butterfly Landing at Franklin Park Zoo.  At Butterfly Landing, guests have the opportunity to stroll through this tranquil environment filled with butterflies. This tented, outdoor seasonal exhibit also features several garden beds, a pond and soothing surround-sound music.  Butterfly Landing will only be open through Labor Day. Please note: This exhibit is weather dependent.  Butterfly Landing is free with general admission.

 

Aussie Aviary at Franklin Park Zoo: Aussie Aviary provides a memorable, interactive experience for Zoo guests, who are able to stroll through the exhibit space among hundreds of brightly-colored budgies.  Budgerigars, affectionately called budgies, are also known as grass parakeets and are a variety of small slender parrots with long, tapering tails.  As part of the experience, guests have the opportunity to purchase seeds and feed the birds as they walk through the free-flight exhibit, located in the Outback Trail.  The Aviary is open through September 1st from 11:00am-4:00pm on weekdays and 11:00am-5:00pm on weekends.  After Labor Day, Aussie Aviary will be open on weekends only through September.  The Aviary is free with general admission.

 

Masters of Flight: Birds of Prey at Stone Zoo: Masters of Flight: Birds of Prey features bird species from around the world, including a bald eagle, a red-legged seriema, a king vulture, a Eurasian eagle owl and a black vulture, in this engaging, memorable and educational experience for visitors of all ages. These birds will fly in from overhead and demonstrate natural behaviors including unique survival techniques and food foraging, as well as specialized physical adaptations. You don’t want to miss the opportunity to watch these acrobats of the sky!  There are three daily show times.  Masters of Flight is open through September 1st and will be held daily at 11:00am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm.  This is free with general admission.
