Wrapping Paper Craft Box

Kids seem to love wrapping paper, bows and ribbon!  Last night the girls and I went through my “wrapping paper bin” and gathered all of those scraps of wrapping paper that aren’t really usable anymore and all of the old ribbons/bows that I’ve been collecting (I have no idea why I keep all of these things!).  I cut the wrapping paper into pieces that are a kid-friendly size and the girls put all of the paper and the ribbons/bows into a big plastic bin.  Then I gave the kids some scissors, tape and glue and let them go to town creating whatever they could imagine.

Just a few ideas of what the kids could create:

  1.  Fold some cardstock into cards and give them to the kids to get creative with.  You could send the cards to relatives or friends to brighten their day!
  2. Cut cardstock into bookmarks.  Let the kids decorate their own bookmarks.
  3. Cut out some construction paper crowns and let the kids decorate them.
  4. Recycle old tissue boxes and let the kids decorate them, turning them into “treasure” boxes.
  5. Recycle an old paper towel or tissue roll and create a colorful telescope.

Great idea! Unfortunately it’s too late as my scraps are all in the garbage, but I’ll remember that for next time!

  3. Expanding on the tissue boxes, jam jars are great for creating colourful storage containers and flower pots work as well.
