NH Winter Getaways

NH Winter Getaways

It’s no secret that I love getaways. I plan them whenever I can, but when I do, I try to find the best deal that I can for our family. For those who are not aware of how many children we have, we have 5, which means sometimes it’s a bit more challenging to find good prices, but we do our best, for sure.

With February vacation coming up, I thought it would be helpful for you to see where we’ve gone with our family. Maybe one or more would be of interest to you.

Indian Head Resort: Located in Lincoln, NH- What our family loves here alot are their pools. They have an outdoor pool that is used in the winter and it’s a great size! They have a hot tub outside too! Don’t want to be outside? They also have an indoor pool and indoor hot tub as well.
There’s a decent size hill with sleds that guests can use. There is also a pond that is cleared for ice skating
They have an onsite restaurant and their food is amazingly good!
When we were there, they had kids activities such as candy bingo, ice cream socials and more.
There are 2 separate lodging choices. One is attached to the main part of the building. The other is directly across the street where there are options for larger spaces for bigger families.
The resort’s rates are fantastic, especially when you opt for their weekly special pass they are presently offering.
I always found our rooms and resort extremely clean, but the resort is older and in my opinion needs some updating. It definitely has not stopped us from returning and every time we go, we meet families who have been going here for a lifetime!

Mountain Club on Loon: Located in Lincoln, NH-A huge reason we visit here, is for the spaciousness of our living space. Here we pay more for our room, but less for eating out expenses because we have a kitchen, dining room and living room!
There’s an indoor pool and an outdoor hot tub. The views are lovely.
There is a restaurant and pub on premises.

At the base of the hotel there is Loon Adventures which has ice skating, tubing, skiing passes and more. Often the hotel has some special packages with these outdoor fun adventures.
I was able to take Camden and Javonte’ here last Feb vacation and they both learned how to ski here.
We had a great time!

North Conway Grand Hotel: Located in North Conway, NH-We happened upon this hotel in a little different way. We were actually booked to stay at another hotel one winter, but because of an ice storm coming in, we wanted to start out a day early and the hotel we were suppose to stay at was not available for our extra night. We ended up doing a walk in at the Grand and they happened to have a cancellation. Good for us as this hotel has become one of our favorites to go to!
This hotel has an outdoor pool and hot tub as well. They also had a fire pit by the poolside. The night we were there, had been snowing and the kids were rolling in the snow into the heated pool. We had so much fun.
They also had a kids events going on while we were there.
It is a definitely a grand hotel and it’s walking distance to the outlets. It’s location is perfect for lots of shopping and great restaurants.

Attitash Grand Summit Hotel:  Located in Bartlett, NH- We have a weekend coming up for a getaway here. This is one of my husband’s favorite spots to stay.
This is another hotel that has many room options from studios to rooms with lofts and kitchens. We go with a studio and lock out unit. We have a kitchen, pull out sofa, murphy bed and a room with 2 beds. It’s a little tight for all of us, but it works.
We’re not in our room too often as there are fireplaces in different locations with couches and tables and we play a lot of games here.
There’s also a very large heated outdoor pool and 2 outdoor hot tubs. We all stay out here for hours!
They also have a fabulous workout room and sauna.
We find our way to the arcade room at the end of the day for some pinball tournaments that we do against each other. My husband always wins!
If this already sound perfect, let me just add the icing to the cake. Attitash is a step out and ski hotel-literally!

We actually like this place so much that we almost bought into their real estate side. The timing wasn’t right, but we can certainly see ourselves doing this one day.

Mountain View Grand Resort:  Located in Whitefield, NH-The place for making family memories is here! I will be upfront and let you know that this is on the higher end of rates, but it’s breathtaking and non-stop fun for your family. They have activities planned throughout the day.
They have a beautiful indoor pool and hot tub. The pool area has amazing paintings covering all the walls and there are lists of items to find in the paintings. They have a great workout room with mountain views while using some of the machines.
There are fireplaces, library rooms, game rooms, indoor movie theater and so much more!

There’s ice skating and tubing and a huge fire pit they often have lit in the evenings with smores included.
This hotel is perfect in every way!

Other spots I’d recommend to look into:

Red Jacket Inn:Located in North Conway- Here you will find the indoor waterpark. We stayed here a few years ago. The hotel was nice. We had a great room with a loft. Lyv and I did a ceramic class they offered. We came really for the waterpark but we found it too crowded for us and quite hot inside. Many people we know love it here so do look into it. For me, I would definitely go back for the hotel and probably do other things nearby rather than the waterpark.

The Common Man Inn & Spa: Located in Plymouth, NH.- I went here with my mom last February with my mom for her birthday and we did not want to leave! We stayed at the inn for our entire weekend. Had great food, went to a Murder Mystery Dinner they hosted and enjoyed the pool area and spa. The rooms are so earthy and warm and very spacious. There are rooms for larger families too, though I will say, I think for this spot, I’ll be sticking with just a me and mom getaway. Definitely check it out.
