Easter Basket Ideas for the Little Dinosaur Fan

I’ve started putting together Easter baskets for my kids and this year my little guy is going to get a Dinosaur-themed basket.  I know that there are a lot of dinosaur fans out there so I wanted to share some of what will go into our Dino Easter basket!  I’ll be putting out some posts with additional Easter ideas in the next week as I start getting baskets together for my girls.  There are also some wonderful resources available to help remind children of the real meaning of Easter that I’ll post about in the near future.

• I found an adorable book titled Here Comes T Rex Cottontail that my little guy is going to love!  In this book (description from Amazon.com), “Peter Cottontail is out sick, and there’s only one dinosaur who’s up to the task of delivering his eggs on Easter: T. Rex! All T. Rex has to do is work on hopping—without the wiggle. He keeps breaking all the eggs! Join T. Rex and his friends as he saves the day in a very special way. “

• I also very much like these Dinosaur Easter Eggs with little dinosaurs in them!  Admittedly the dinosaurs are very small but for the price of $2 per dozen I personally think that they are a home run!

 

• Candy!  I’ll be filling some plastic Easter eggs with dinosaur fruit snacks and mini-chocolate eggs (which we will of course call dinosaur eggs).

• This Milk Chocolate Dino Egg with chocolate dinosaurs inside is adorable!  That said, if you’re like me and don’t want to spend $10 on chocolate dinosaurs, you could always invest in a dinosaur mold and make your own candy dinosaurs!  Below is the mold that is on my wish list.

•  Hatching Eggs have always been a huge hit in my house.  So I thought I’d include a hatching dinosaur in the basket this year.  My kids get so excited when they see these eggs start to crack and an animal (or dinosaur) start to creep out.

• What is an Easter celebration without decorating some Easter Eggs?  These eggs are perfect for a dinosaur fan.  The dinosaur holders that come in this kit make the eggs into little standing dinosaurs – cute!

• Finally, I’m going to put a few clay dinosaur fossils and clay dinosaur eggs into the basket.  We made these several weeks ago and my little guy has played with them daily, to the point of wearing them down!  He’ll love a few new fossils and some dino eggs!
