August Fun at the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire

The Children’s Museum of New Hampshire has a few fun events next week for you to check out.  On August 5th you will be able to meet National Geographic Explorer and Archaeologist Donny Slater.  “Slater has done research in both Mexico and Belize, and was the first outsider to document 100 caves in the Yucatan. Since 2009, he has led the Central Yucatan Archaeological Cave Project, studying the ways the ancient Maya used caves.  He and his team have discovered petroglyphs, ancient pathways, human remains, ceramics and jewelry that dated from 800 B.C.”  He will be on hand to answer questions and discuss his career with children and their families.

Additionally, the Children’s Museum will be hosting a Teddy Bear Clinic on August 9th.  Bring your teddy bear (or a favorite stuffed animal friend) to the clinic for a check-up (I have the Doc McStuffins theme song playing in my head right now.)  “The clinic is set up like miniature hospital and is designed to let kids take on the role of parents as they accompany their stuffed animal through a health visit. Experiencing this process may help children feel more confident and less scared during their next visit to the doctor or hospital…A tea party for children and their furry guests will follow the Teddy Bear Clinic from 12-12:30 pm inside the museum. There will be fresh fruit from Fiddlehead Farms Marketplace, organic milk and yogurt provided by Stonyfield, animal crackers, juice and water for all.”
