Successful Consignment Sale Shopping

Tots to Teens will be hosting another one of their Consignment Sales on September 7th, just in time to do some back to school shopping!  I shopped their last sale in April and was very happy with my experience and the good deals I was able to snag.  That said, as I shopped the sale there were a couple times that I said to myself “Why didn’t I think of that!”   So to prevent you from doing the same thing I thought I would share a few little tricks and tips that I picked up from the more seasoned shoppers.

1. If you’re in the market for big items or bulky baby gear then I suggest you bring along a wagon.  It will be much easier to maneuver through the sale if your hands aren’t full of all your new loot!

2. Bring some big bags!  Even if you bring a wagon I would still suggest bringing along some big bags.  You never know what smaller toys or clothing might catch your eye.

3. Bring a friend!  The line to check out does get long.  In my opinion, saving the phenomenal amount of money that I did on all of the baby gear that I needed was well worth the wait.  That said, why wait longer than you have to, right?  My husband and kiddos came with me to the sale in April.  We shopped together for a little while and then I had my husband wait online while I finished up the shopping.  We, of course still, had a bit of a wait but it was drastically reduced by having him get online earlier.

4. Know what you’re shopping for!  I had a prioritized list of the things that I was looking for and that really helped out.  When the doors open to the consignment sale it is the running of the moms!  Don’t get me wrong, everyone was very nice but items were selling very quickly.  Having a directed approach to your shopping will help ensure that you get the gear that’s most important to you.

5. Shop the Presale!  As I said above, things go quickly…especially the nicer baby gear.  I think that having a Presale Pass really does help make sure you get the items you want!  There are a few ways to get a Presale Pass:

  • New Parents: If you are pregnant, in the process of adopting a child or have a child that is 12 months and under, you are eligible to shop Tots to Teens pre-sale.  You can register for the pre-sale here.
  • Military: If you or your spouse is active or retired military Tots to Teens wants to thank you by having you join their pre-sale event.  You can register for your pass here.
  • Last but not least, you can purchase a pass for Tots to Teens pre-sale for $5 on their website.

Happy Shopping and Bargain Hunting!
