Santa vs the Snowman in IMAX at the Museum of Science

039

The kids and I got to go back to the Museum of Science (one of our favorite places!) this past weekend.  Aside from enjoying all of the  Museum’s regular exhibits we got the opportunity to see Santa vs. the Snowman in IMAX.  Santa vs. the Snowman was a huge hit with my kids.  They loved seeing Santa talk to them on the Mugar Omni Theatre’s GIANT screen.   This was the kids’ first IMAX experience so they were loving the big screen.

This holiday film is about “the misadventures of a lonely snowman who discovers Santa’s Village and is swept away by its magical wonders. Soon, however, he becomes jealous of Santa and the attention he gets during Christmastime. The snowman wages an epic-scale polar war on Santa, and a hilarious battle ensues, complete with a holiday arsenal of hot chocolate squirt guns, giant igloo robot walkers, and even a 50-foot-tall toy soldier manned by Santa himself.”  My kiddos found this “epic-scale polar war” to be hysterical…I mean, elves shooting guns filled with hot chocolate, what could be funnier 😉  The film had a very sweet ending with the Snowman learning how to experience in the joy and love of Christmas and, ultimately, Santa and the Snowman becoming friends.  I think the best part of Santa vs the Snowman was that Santa began and ended the film by talking to the audience.  My kids were starstruck when Santa came onto the screen and said hello to them!  This is such a fun film to take the kids to as we approach Christmas.  Santa vs the Snowman is playing now through January 1st.  You can see more details and a schedule of showings at this link.

I am writing this while sitting next to my Kindergartener who has asked me to include her review of the film.  So here it is!  “The movie was great.  I love Santa.  I love the Snowman.  I loved the snowball fight…and when the Snowman made little snowmen friends with ice cubes….and when the elves were spinning around in their chairs, they are funny!…and when the little girl gave the snowman a kiss on the cheek…and when the snowman played the flute….and when the elves were singing….” Her review went on for a while 🙂 so she told me that I could sum it up by saying that she thoroughly enjoyed the show!

I have another post about our visit that will come out in the next day or so but in the meantime I wanted to let you know about this fun film.

I was provided IMAX tickets for my family however all thoughts and opinions are, as always, my own and my children’s.
