Sick Day: Fun with Doc McStuffins

Spend your sick day with Doc McStuffins.  Activity Mom came up with a great Doc McStuffins pretend play idea.  (She has a fantastic site with lots of great ideas!)  I recreated Activity Mom’s in-home doctor’s office complete with stuffed-animal patients.

I set out a small chair to provide the stuffed animals with a waiting room and then a table for the kids to perform their “animal examinations”.  On the table was a digital thermometer, some band-aids, tissues, a “medical bag”, our LeapFrog Laptop, some “medical charts,” and anything else that I thought the kids could get creative with.  The kids were occupied for literally HOURS providing check-ups to all of their sick animals.

Activity Mom had such an adorable Doc McStuffins set-up for her little ones so be sure to check out her site for ideas and inspiration.  She also links to some very fun Preschool/Kindergarten Doc McStuffins themed printables.  After we were done playing Doc McStuffins we spent quite some time working on the printables.  It’s amazing how fun learning can become when you’re doing it with some of your favorite cartoon characters.

Two of my favorite printables from 1+1+1=1:

The kids and I also recreated the Doc McStuffins Sensory Bin from 1+1+1=1 (her sensory bin is so creative and cute!).  1+1+1=1 has great Doc McStuffins pretend play ideas so I suggest checking out her site, especially if you have a Disney Junior fan in your house!  Here’s our version of the Doc McStuffins 1+1+1=1 sensory bin.

1+1+1=1 also links to some fantastic Disney Junior printables.  Check out the doctor’s tool set and bag that we made from these printables!  I made a set for each of the kids by printing the tools out on cardstock and then laminating them.  The kids LOVED them!  (I think they had just as much fun with these paper tools as if I had bought them the real thing!)

So, if you happen to have a sick kid in the next few weeks, try out a Doc Day.  That said, I hope you’re able to avoid the germs and that your family stays healthy this cold and flu season!
