This page is dedicated entirely to all of the festive fun that is happening over the next 6 weeks.  I’ll be adding to it as I discover more events.  If you know of an event not listed here please let me know!

Holiday Cooking and Gingerbread Houses:

December 6, 2013: Make a Gingerbread House at the American Girl Store

December 13-14, 2013: Make Reindeer Food at the Culinary Playground.  Little chefs will be thrilled to make a special snack to share with Rudolf and his friends.  Everyone knows reindeer love cereal, pretzels and m&m’s coated in white chocolate!  Lots of hand’s on measuring, mixing and cracking.  The cost of this program is $16/child.

December 14, 2013: Family Gingerbread House Workshop at the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire! There are three sessions at 9:30am, 11:00am and 1:00pm.  The cost of the workshop is $30 per family for Children’s Museum members and $40 per family for non-members (up to 4 people). Additional participants in a family are $5 each, and if a family would like to have a second house to decorate, they can reserve one for an additional $20.  To register for a Family Gingerbread House Workshop session, please call the Children’s Museum of NH at .

December 15, 2013: Participate in an Adult/Child Gingerbread Class at the Culinary Playground!  Adult and Child Teams will work together to build a one-of-a-kind Gingerbread Masterpiece.  The cost is $45 for the Adult/Child (5+) team.

December 13, 2013: American Girl at the Nutcracker! Celebrate the season with your special girl! Your experience begins with dinner at American Girl, followed by the Boston Ballet’s dazzling new production of The Nutcracker, New England’s number one holiday tradition. This production of the timeless classic features beautiful new scenes and choreography. Transportation to and from the Boston Opera House is included. Reservations required. For girls ages 3 and up.

December 13-14, 2013: The Twelve Days of Christmas at the Capital Center for the Arts

December 15, 2013: The Polar Express is playing at Chunky’s Cinema and Pub!  Each location will have a 9am Breakfast Showtime where we encourage kids to come in their PJs just like the movie!  There will also be a 12:30pm, 3:45pm, and 6:30pm showing.

 

Holiday Festivals and Light Displays:

November 22 – January 1: Christmas Festival of Lights at Edaville USA

November 23-December 7, 2013: Methuen Festival of Trees in Methuen, MA Admission is $10 for Adults on Weekends and $8 for Adults on Weekdays; Children 12 and under are Free

November 28-December 31, 2013: ZooLights at the Stone Zoo!  Enter a winter wonderland of tree-lined paths lit by thousands of twinkling lights.  Stroll through festively decorated Yukon Creek, home to bald eagles, North American porcupines, reindeer and arctic foxes.  Meet Stone Zoo’s reindeer up close during nightly photo opportunities.  Visit with Santa, who awaits your arrival in Santa’s Castle.  Jolly Old St. Nick will be available for photos through December 23rd.  After visiting with Santa, enter a magical holiday world filled with fairy tale characters and dancing plush animals.

November 29-December 7, 2013: Southern New Hampshire Festival of Trees in Pelham, NH  Admission is $5 for Adults and Children 12 and under are Free

Holiday Downtown:

November 30, 2013: Winter Holiday Stroll in Downtown Nashua

December 6, 2013: Friday Night Under the Lights in Goffstown, NH Join the Goffstown Main Street Program for its annual holiday kick-off Friday Night Under the Lights, December 6, 5-8 p.m.  in Goffstown’s historic Downtown.  Visit your favorite Village businesses, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the season.  Get here early to see characters from the Goffstown High School Performing Arts production of The Nutcracker.  (Performances going on Dec 6 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec 7, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.  Tickets on sale at the school).  Santa makes his way through the village and stops at Brown Graphix for photos.  Purchase a photo ornament from Main Street, or bring your own camera.  Hop on a hayride from Goffstown Ace Hardware, and ride in style with Toad Hill Farm.  Goffstown Public Library hosts its traditional reading of “The Polar Express”, climb on board by pre-registering at www.goffstownlibrary.com.  Click on Event Calendar and follow the registration directions.  Readings are at 5:15 and 6 p.m., and advance registration and tickets are required.  At 6:30, come to the Town Common for our tree lighting with music and special guest, Mr. Henry Hunter, WWII veteran and Goffstown resident.  Following the Common tree lighting, a Gold Star tree will be lit at Town Hall.  Goffstown Congregational Church will stage a Living Nativity on the lawn of the church and parish house. Step inside for homemade cookies and cocoa.  Find the Goffstown Historical Society elves at each stop along the way to collect a stamp for your Historical Society passport. Don’t miss out the festivities at Rotary Park where Goffstown Rotary will be serving cocoa, and Home Designers, Builders and Remodelers will light up the Piscataquog River with Riverfire.  The glow from the fire will warm your hearts!

December 6, 2013: Shimmer and Shine Snowflake Celebration at the American Girl Store

December 7, 2013: Caroling in the Galleries at the Currier Museum The Manchester Choral Society is back for their fourth holiday season of caroling! New Hampshire residents that come before noon will receive free admission. Otherwise, the program is free with Museum admission.

December 14-15, 2013: Breakfast with the Reindeer at Stone Zoo Tis the season – enjoy a continental breakfast with some of your favorite Zoo friends! Registrants for this program will receive special early entry to the Zoo and breakfast. A staff member will be available to answer questions and talk about the reindeer. There will also be a fun, seasonal craft project for the kids and the kids of all ages.
